BGD 548 Paint Inspection Gauge Thickness Gauge Measuring Machine

1.Description

The most distinctive feature of this instrument is its ability to measure coating thickness on non-metallic substrates, making it particularly suitable for situations where conventional electromagnetic measurement techniques are ineffective, such as on wood, concrete, plastic, and other non-metallic substrates. Additionally, it can be used to investigate phenomena such as pinholes, pits, cracks, bubbles, peeling, substrate preparation quality, and other interlayer phenomena.
Testing Principle: The BGD 548 measurement is based on a standard wedge-cutting procedure: the coating is scratched at a defined angle to expose the substrate. The coating thickness (s) is calculated based on the triangular projection (b) of the cut surface, which is determined by a microscope and the cutting angle (α). Using the same principle, the thickness of each layer in a multi-layer coating system can also be calculated, with the width of the rolled-up coating area during the cutting operation being related to the projection b.
Design and Function: Consists of one black aluminum oxide component, which includes the following elements: four tungsten carbide steel cutting heads with precise angles, a 30x measurement microscope, and a graduated scale (2.8mm divided into 140 divisions). Two pairs of legs support the measurement microscope and guide the tungsten carbide steel cutting heads. A battery compartment accommodates a 1.5V battery.
